Project Description

Objectives

Overall objective: To improve management of Cultural Heritage and ensure its integration into economic development of Eastern Partnership region

Specific objectives: Development of national policy for heritage; Capacity building of heritage sector stakeholders with the aim of enhancing role of heritage in sustainable economic development; Promotion of the regional co-operation and exchange of experience within the EP region and between the region and EU countries;  Support of the civil society involvement in the planning and decision making processes.

Activities

The project carries out activities in  4 major  directions:

1. Development of National Policies for cultural heritage to support the reform and strengthening of the heritage preservation institutions;
2. Capacity building for heritage sector stakeholders of the EP region to strengthen capacity of public, semi-public and private actors and to address the objectives of creating conditions for the regional co-operation,  and strengthening dialogue within the EP region;
3. Regional Professional networking to support the co-operation in the context of regional integration and international networking to strengthen EP regional links and cultural dialogue within the region;
4. Public awareness activities to contribute to the democratisation of the decision making and planning processes and activate involvement of the civil society in elaboration and implementation of the cultural heritage policies in the EP region;

Expected Results

Draft National Policy for Cultural Heritage in Georgia and Ukraine produced; targeted workshops for stakeholder groups from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine carried out; qualified regional centre for cultural heritage development established; strong EP regional network of heritage professionals through E-magazine and forum created; public awareness campaigns in Georgia and Armenia carried out, awareness raising guidelines elaborated, a teacher’s manual published and disseminated
