Use of Traditional Knowledge in Heritage Conservation Industry, 10-11 April, 2014
On April 10-11th ICOMOS Georgia hosted the 9th international Capacity building workshop held in Tbilisi within the project Regional Co-operation for Cultural Heritage Development funded by the European Union. The first day of the workshop was facilitated by Mr. Jon Brænne, paintings conservator and research scientist from Norway, who presented series of case studies about wooden architecture conservation and the use of linseed oil paints in conservation. Second day of the event was dedicated to field work, participants of the workshop from Armenia and Georgia visited restoration sites, on Machabeli str # 17 and Tbilisi Synagogue (D. Baazov Museum of Ethnography and History of Jews of Georgia). The workshop was concluded in Betlemi Quarter Information Center with two further presentations and concluding brainstorming session on the training needs in traditional skills of conservation for the region.
