ICOMOS Georgia is a non-governmental organisation of professionals dedicated to the conservation of heritage resources. It was founded in 1993 as a National Union of the International Council of Monuments and Sites. The mission of the ICOMOS GEO is to promote and disseminate international standards of conservation at national level. For this reason ICOMOS GEO, apart from national scientific sections (vernacular architecture, historic settlements, cultural tourism, restoration methodology), ICOMOS GEO runs a number of pilot projects, where internationally recognised conservation methodology is practically applied. |
