The Directorate for Cultural Heritage (Riksantikvaren) is responsible for the practical implementation of the Norwegian Cultural Heritage Act and the objectives, laid down, by the Norwegian Parliament (Stortinget).The Directorate for Cultural Heritage comes under the environmental management umbrella, and answers to the Ministry of the Environment. The Directorate collaborates with other directorates in the environmental sector wherever appropriate. International Activities - Working in an international perspective is one of the aims stipulated in the strategy of the Riksantikvaren. Through international co-operation the Riksantikvaren actively contributes towards safeguarding the cultural heritage of mankind, including cultural rights and cultural diversity. |
