“Action Guide - how to campaign to save buildings”, 15-16 October, 2013
On 15-16th `October, 2013 International Workshop: “Action Guide - how to campaign to save buildings” was held in Tbilisi. It was the 7th workshop in the series of Capacity Building events envisaged within the framework of the project Regional Co-operation for Cultural Heritage Development funded by the European Union. Participants of the workshop came from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, UK and Ukraine. Aim of the workshop was to empower those present to:1. Campaign effectively to save buildings from demolition and establish a new use/function for them if necessary The workshop was led by Clem Cecil, Director of SAVE Europe’s Heritage and Chair and co-founder of the Moscow Architecture Preservation Society (MAPS) a campaign group that raises awareness locally and internationally about the plight of Moscow’s built heritage. Since 2004, MAPS has gone on to campaign in Samara, St Petersburg and rural Russia. From the beginning MAPS partnered on reports with SAVE Europe’s Heritage, a UK-based campaign group that was founded in 1995.
