Project staff presented the activity in detail and discussed the procedural framework for the implementation of the activity. A draft outline of the policy paper was also discussed. All presented information was distributed to the participants in the printed form. Participants showed interest in the project activity and asked detailed questions regarding the procedure for the drafting of national concept paper. Some specific questions concerned the definition of heritage and inquired how wide would the concept paper cover the term. As the participants represented a wide range of heritage fields from audio-visual to living heritage, they all seemed very keen to find out whether recommendations in their field would be included in the final document. Project coordinator explained that any contribution and involvement from various experts or organizations in terms of providing field specific recommendations would be utmost welcome and encouraged. Questions also concerned the mechanism for the implementation of the recommendations and the involvement of the state officials in the entire process. Many expressed concerns about the lack of public participation and transparency in the heritage management process and agreed that the public participation component of the project is of great importance. |
