Editorial
Dear Colleagues,
ICOMOS Georgia and its partners – ICOMOS Armenia, Ltd. Architectura I Prestizh (Ukraine) and Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage – are pleased to announce that issue 3 of the regional e-magazine Heritage Conservation. Regional Network Journal, established within the EU funded project Regional Co-operation for Cultural Heritage Development, is now available online.
Issue 3 of our e-magazine is prevailed by the articles focused on the architectural heritage conservation issues, showing that there are common problems with the recognition of the values and protection of architectural heritage, but different solutions in tackling them. While S. Amiraslanova (Azerbaijan) deals with the positive case of careful restoration of the Garabaghlar complex, S. Ion (Moldova) discusses problems of treatment of the ecclesiastical monuments of Moldova and Dr. L. Gnatyuk (Ukraine) is concerned with the security problems of the wooden churches of Ukraine and sacred objects kept in them. Another issue of particular interest in terms of architectural heritage is very specific approach of museification of monuments, which is discussed by E. Ploshnita (Moldova). Group of authors – N. Churikova, Yu. Rudnytsky, O. Lysak (Ukraine) present Radomysl Castle case, as the best practice of the private initiative, ensuring protection of the heritage site and its development. Rich archaeological heritage of Armenia and problems of its protection are presented by A. Meshinyan (Armenia) and a group of authors – A. Bobokhyan (Armenia), A. Gilibert (Germany), P. Hnila (Germany). Recent interventions in the Mtskheta (World Heritage Site) and their impact on its cultural landscape are analysed by Dr. Ts. Chachkhunashvili (Georgia).
